M&B Cragganmore, 27 Jahre alt, Single Cask Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky mit 46,5%vol. aus einem American oak ex sherry cask

Appearance:         

Bright amber – fades polished mahogany. No beading at this strength. American oak ex-sherry cask

Aroma:                

A mellow nose-feel no prickle; nose-drying overall. Initially relatively closed, but sweet and syrupy overall. The top note is of moist Christmas cake, well-seasoned with brandy, or perhaps brandy butter on the side and a trace of vanilla ice cream. Fresh (green) oak as a base note. A drop of water increases the vanilla note, and moves the Christmas cake to sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch biscuits.

Palate:                 

A creamy texture. A sweet taste, with an oaky mid-palate, carrying through to the aftertaste and some light spice in the lengthy finish. The taste reflects the aroma well. A drop of water enhances the spicy element.

Comment:             

An excellent and unusual example of this under-estimated Speyside malt.
